DeMarcus Cousins names the real culprit behind LA’s disastrous start

The The Los Angeles Clippers were The NBA’s biggest disappointment so far in 2025-26, currently at 5-15 as they prepare to make their second East Coast road trip of the season. While Kawhi Leonardas expected, in and out of the lineup, the Clippers have retained most of their core that won 50 games a season ago, making this year’s slow start all the more perplexing.
Most recently, the former NBA big man DeMarcus Cousins went on FanDuel’s “Run It Back” show on let it be known where he thinks the blame should fall: CEO Lawrence Frank.
“He’s a decision maker who keeps changing this team every year; they’re getting worse and worse … it’s just not working,” Cousins said, per Run It Back on X, formerly Twitter.
Interestingly, many fans praised Frank during the offseason for some of the moves he made, including bringing in John Collins to help with the depth of Los Angeles’ frontcourt.
However, that trade also included sending Norman Powell to the Miami Heat, which is starting to look like a disaster, as Powell inexplicably continues to play the best basketball of his career well into his 30s. There’s also the possibility of Los Angeles sending their unprotected 2026 first-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder, which could be cataclysmic for the entire NBA.
Through it all, James Harden has been playing great basketball for Los Angeles, and the team should definitely start exploring trade options for him, considering he’s the only real asset the team currently has on the books.
Either way, the Clippers will take the floor next against Powell and the Heat on Friday night at 7:30 PM ET from South Beach.
