It’s a very, very closed club they walked into last night Victor Vembanyama and Castle Stephon. It’s a pair of teammates, the author of a triple-double of 20 or more points in the same match. U loss against the Warriorsthe last two rookies of the year became the 5th tandem to accomplish this feat.

It’s even the first time that two Spurs players finished the game with a triple-double each. A feat to which Wemby endured, and so he went for his 10th assist in the last second, when the match was over and the stands were empty.

“I was thinking about two triple-doubles. I don’t remember the score, but I think it was the right call.” assumes Vembanjama, who finished the match with 31 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists (and 8 turnovers…). On his side, Stephon Castle took advantage of this last pass and finished the game with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. This is his first triple-double in his career.

Stephon Castle wanted his triple-double

The same satisfaction at the back of Spurs. “It’s surprising given the history and all the good players that were here. Obviously we wanted to win, but yeah, I’m happy with our two triple-doubles. It’s something great to be a part of. I’m proud to be a part of it, but we needed a win to finish it off.”

For the record, Castle came up with his 10th jump with five seconds left, and he held… “There were a few games like this last year where I missed it by one unit, so yeah, obviously we wanted to win, but I’m happy to finally get it.”, concludes the 2025 Rookie of the Year.
