Giannis Antetokounmpo adds more mystery to a possible departure from Milwaukee

Giannis Antetokounmpo he continues to stir the pot about his future with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Antetokounmpo has been with the Bucks since the franchise drafted him in 2013. Over time, he transformed himself into one of the best players in the entire league, leading the team to a championship in 2021.

However, three straight first-round playoff exits have put the superstar’s future with the organization in question. He participated in an exclusive interview with COSMOTE TV about his commitment to the franchise nowadays and in the long run.

“As the Americans say, opinions are cheap — that’s why everyone has them. Right now, at this moment, I’m in Milwaukee… I don’t know if I’m going to leave — it’s not up to me. If it was up to me, I might have already left. In a year and a half, when I’m a free agent at 32, it will be up to me,” Antetoko said.

“No one dares come and tell me not to play. I’ve never given anyone that right – as long as my legs allow me, I’ll be there.”

It’s undeniable that Giannis Antetokounmpo accomplished a lot with the Bucks. Giving away the title in 2021 as well as winning two MVP awards put him near the top of the mountain as one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Antetokounmpo continues to be incredible in his 13th season, despite missing some time with injuries. He averaged 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game over 30 appearances. He is shooting 64.5% from the field, including 39.5% from beyond the arc and 65.8% from the free throw line.

Milwaukee has a record of 23-30 on the season, and is ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference standings. They are eight games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets and nine games ahead of the Indiana Pacers. However, they trail the Chicago Bulls in the tiebreaker and the Atlanta Hawks by 1.5 games.

Once the All-Star break is over, the Bucks will resume action on the road before hosting four straight contests. They take on the New Orleans Pelicans and tip-off will take place on February 20th at 8pm ET.
