Green changes fit into Dillon Brooks during a chat with Matt Ishby

in 2025 Phoenix Suns the list is night and day different from what they looked like in the past few years. They have made many other moves to rethink their recent approach. The most notable move was the trade of Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets; in turn, The Suns received draft picks, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green. Right now, the Suns are playing fantastic basketball with all those moves.

One player in particular, Dillon Brooks, was a lightning rod of controversy during his time in the NBA. Suns ovner Matt Ishbia continued Draymond Green‘s podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” and they discussed the moves the Suns made. Green said he had his differences with Dillon Brooks, but admits he’s a guy who will immediately make a basketball team better if he’s on it.

Green said, “You added Dillon Brooks. I’ve had my differences with Dillon Brooks, but one thing’s for sure: Dillon Brooks is going to make the team a better team. No question: no matter how you feel about him, he’s going to make the team better. He’s going to elevate that team every night to compete at a high level.”

The Suns acquired the rights to last year’s 10th pick in the 2025 NBA draft and used it on Duke’s Khaman Maluach.

After all the changes, the Suns had few expectations this year. Still, they’re playing fantastic basketball, and the pieces the Suns have are fitting together in a way few expected.

The Suns not only overhauled their roster but also hired new general manager Brian Gregory and new coach Jordan Ott. They started the roster and are playing exciting basketball.

Matt Ishbia looked back on what needed to change after the Suns went 36-46 and missed the playoffs, and for now things look a lot different early in the NBA season.

“I want to put the team on a field that everyone is proud of,” Suns majority owner Matt Ishby said. “It has to have an identity — a Phoenix-like identity. Some grit, some determination, some work ethic, some grit, some joy. We just didn’t have that.”

The Suns are playing well with their new players, new coach and new general manager, and it’s a testament to Matt Ishbia for making the necessary changes while retaining Devin Booker and letting it flourish.
