Hawks beat Nets, but lose Trae Young
The Nets hosted the Hawks last night Trae Young with hopes of winning their first match of the season. For this, Brooklyn started the match very well with 12-0. The first void that Atlanta quickly filled thanks to a 9-0 run during which Zachary Risacher (8 points, 3 rebounds) appears and Quin Snyder’s People regained the advantage in the middle of this first act (18-17).
A few minutes from the end of this first quarter, Noah Clowney is growing Mohamed Gueye… which falls on the leg Trae Young who in turn collapses holding his knee. Atlanta’s leader manages to get up on his own, but is forced back into the locker room and will not play again for the evening.
Brooklyn too short in the last minute
Without him, the Hawks continued to add to the deficit throughout the second quarter, behind a Luke Kennard (17 points on 4/5 on 3-pointers) who scored 12 points in the half including a perfect 3-of-3 from distance.
Upon returning to the locker room, the guests had a 13-point advantage (64-51), but Michael Porter Jr (32 points, 9 rebounds) leads his team to six lengths (70-64) at the beginning of the third quarter. However, Atlanta took advantage of the minutes when the Brooklyn winger was on the bench to make another “surge” and regain the 15-point lead.
So, 11 points behind, the Nets start the last act, but the home team gets back to within three points a minute from the end of the match. To hopefully return to one point, Nic Clacton takes an uncontested shot in the racket, but hits the back of the circle and, in doing so, his tap attempt bounces several times on the hoop, but does not go in.
That forced the Nets to foul Luke Kennard for another chance to tie the game, but the former Clippers doesn’t blink at the free throw line. Thus, despite the loss of Trey Young in the first act and 32 points from Michael Porter Jr., Atlanta leaves Brooklyn with a victory (117-112).
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Trea Young’s rush. Here’s the black spot of the night in Atlanta: Tree Young’s exit in the first half, the knock on the knee. After the math, Quin Snyder could not provide more information on the health of his leader who will have to undergo an MRI during the day to determine the duration of his unavailability.
– answers the bench of Atlanta. Without Tree Young, new solutions had to be found. If Jalen Johnson showed with 23 points, the Hawks bench also shone from the front of the line Luke Kennard. The back end had a very solid first half with 12 drives and a perfect 3/3 from distance. behind him Nickeil Alexander-Walker brought his 18 points whileMr. Okongwu finished with a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. More broadly, the Hawks’ “second unit” dominated the Nets 59-32.
– A new card in the void for Michael Porter Jr.To try to get Brooklyn back into the game, Michael Porter Jr. gave it his all with 32 points, but it wasn’t enough. As was the case in the duel against the Cavaliers where he scored 31 points, “MFA” exceeded the limit of 30 units, but his team lost. A defeat that can be explained mainly by a lack of skill Cam Thomasembarrassed by Dyson Danielswho finished his night with 19 points on 6/20 shooting.
