Herb Jones was ejected after a heated moment with a referee in a Blazers game

The New Orleans Pelicans recently received Herb Jones returned to the lineup after dealing with a calf injury, but lost it again for the time being after being ejected during the team’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Throwing out Herb Jones happened just before halftime Pelicans vs. Blazers game, as he was whistled for a foul on Danny Avdia as the second quarter buzzer expired. Jones, upset about the call, had words for one of the officials and was given a technical foul. He continued with his words and received a second technical and was ejected.
Herb Jones was sidelined for eight games with a calf injuryand returned to the Pelicans lineup on December 8 against the San Antonio Spurs. The game against the Blazers was only Jones’ second game since the injury.
Before the ejection, he had four points, six rebounds and one block in just over 14 minutes of play. He shot 2-of-9 from the field and 0-of-1 from the 3-point line. In his return against the Spurs, he had 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block.
Jones has appeared in 17 games for the Pelicans this season, averaging just 30 minutes per game. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from the 3-point line and 78.6 percent from the free throw line.
The No. 35 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones has developed into one of the best defenders in the NBA. He has reportedly attracted trade interest during the Pelicans’ disappointing seasonbut the team has shown no indication that it is willing to engage in trade discussions.
