It’s a Big Day for the Kobe 1 “City of Champions”
Nike doesn’t do things by halves to celebrate twenty years of existence Kobe 1. After release “81 points”worn Kobe Bryant on the night of his legendary game against Toronto on January 22, 2006, the Comma brand returns with this “City of Champions” colorway to commemorate the Inglewood Forum, the former Lakers venue where the “Black Mamba” began his career.
The upper is dressed in a blue color that is also reminiscent of the Minneapolis Lakers, with cracked patterns on the “swoosh” and front base. A gold finish completes the look, on the lugs and on the “Uptempo” lettering on the heel.
The numbers 67-99 referring to the years the Lakers played at the Forum appear on the inside of the tongue, while the insoles feature a map of the city showing the location of the venue. The California franchise then moved to Staples Center, now Cripto.com Arena in December 2021.
