Ja Morant set London on fire with half a dozen in his return from injury

On Sunday afternoon, The Memphis Grizzlies fell to the floor in London for a game against the Orlando Magic, in a rematch of last week’s matchup between the two teams in Berlin. And Morant missed in that contest, in which the Grizzlies blew a 20-point lead en route to a tough loss, but he is back in the lineup for Sunday’s game in London.
Morant certainly set the tone for the Grizzlies early in this matchup, scoring 20 points in the first half on just seven field goal attempts to go along with 10 assists. Grizzlies lead by 19 at halftime.
Morant has been out the last few games with an injury, and rumors have swirled all along following a report by ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania that Memphis is open to trading its star point guard.
Things got even more heated last week ahead of the game in Berlin, after cameras caught Morant getting into a heated argument with teammate Vince Williams Jr. at a Grizzlies practice.
However, the ship appears to have been righted at least temporarily based on Morant’s performance to open the game in London. At this point, it seems unlikely that the Grizzlies will make a decision to change course based on one game, but it had to feel good for the team to see their star players channeling an old version of themselves in the midst of a tough season.
The Grizzlies will next take the floor at state on Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
