Jaylen Brown reveals the spicy secret ingredient to a career season

The Boston Celtics had a lot of lost in the season, and with Jayson Tatum’s injurymany thought he would have a bad year. The opposite has happened, as the Celtics are currently 26-15 and the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

One of the biggest reasons they continue to be one of the better teams in the conference is their play Jaylen Brown, who is putting himself in the MVP conversation this season. Brown has become the Celtics’ No. 1 option, and so far he’s made it look easy.

When asked what the secret to his career year was, he might have gave a surprising answer which many did not expect, because it was related to his dancing skills.

“Like, quietly behind the scenes, I’ve been working on my salsa, and that’s actually like the secret ingredient, I think, to why I’m having the year that I’m having,” Brown said. “I’ve been working on my footwork and balance, and uh—and the salsa has helped me tremendously. So we’ve been—I’ve already done a few sessions this summer, I’ve been working on it. Um, Raul, we’ve been working together—you’ve come to Boston a few times. So, um, today is just going to be an extension of that, just what we’re going to do normally.”

Brown was recently on his Twitch stream, dancing salsa with R&B artist Victoria Monae. The next night he dropped an effective 50 points. After that game, he said how dancing helped him.

“So one of the things I like to do is kind of warm up my space — put on some salsa music, dance. It kind of helps your mental health and stuff.” “If you’re in Boston, you should try it. Throw in some salsa, throw in some Hector Lavoe,” Brown said.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if other players decide to take up salsa dancing in hopes of improving their game like Brown has this season.
