Jake LaRevanche

THE The Lakers swept the Grizzlies for this season, and no one is happier than Jake LaRavia. Traded from Memphis to Sacramento before returning as a free agent to the Lakers, the winger put up three of his best performances against his former teammates. In 48 hours, he is the first collected 21 points and 9 rebounds then last night 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
I told him after the match in front of the whole group that, especially in the first half, his aggression and confidence helped us a lot. JJ Redick reportswho confirms that his first phone call last summer was to recruit LaRavi. “What we’ve been trying to instill all season is five-point decision-making: being ready to shoot at the opposing end. If you go one-on-one and you have an advantage, you have to keep it. It all takes confidence and aggression. He had a fantastic match. Another very good match defensively, too, with interference and real activity from the opposition.”
A “role player” who knows perfectly… his role
With Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura in the infirmary, LaRavia has settled into the Lakers’ top five and is taking more and more of the offensive initiative. Even in the 4th quarter. As a result, he made 10 3-point shots. His best career.
“I feel very comfortable. Honestly, maybe I could have taken two or three more tonight, but I let them go. Every match is a new step” he explains. “I’m improving the way I play offensively. With Austin gone, that’s an extra role I can take on. So it’s going well.”
Obviously, given his stats against the Grizzlies, one wonders if he’s particularly motivated, or even vindictive against Memphis. “I already had a good game against them when I was in Sacramento after the trade. It’s always nice to play against guys I know, but other than that it’s just another game.” he assures, before concluding his role. “I see myself as a player that when we tell him clearly what’s expected of him, he’ll just go out there and do it. I’ve had a lot of conversations with JJ, with my coach Bo, and they tell me what they want me to do. I’m just trying to do it as well as I can every game. The shots aren’t going to go every night, but I can often control every effort in the game. Offensive rebound rate, and I try to bring that every night, as well as energy to this team.”
