Jalen Hurts sidesteps a question about Kevin Patul’s future

With The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a loss against the San Francisco 49ers in the wild card game, 23-19, ruining their chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions, much of the football world blamed offensive coordinator Kevin Patul. Doc Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and others declined to blame Patul for the overwhelming offense, the star would talk about wanting the coach to return for next season.

Speaking to the media after Sunday’s disappointing loss to San Francisco, Hurts would be asked about Patul and whether he wanted him back. Boli wouldn’t give a straight answer, saying that he has confidence in the decision makers.

“It’s too early to think about that. Like I said, I put my trust in Howie (Roseman), Nick (Siriana) and Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie,” Hurts said, per Tim McManus.

Hurts spoke on the subject immediately after the devastating loss to Philadelphia, saying how hard it is to blame one person.

“I think it’s hard to single out one person, especially at a time like this,” Hurts said, via NBC Sports . “We all have to improve, and that’s how I look at everything we go through.”

Some on The Eagles said it wasn’t fair for Patullo to take the blame because the offense hasn’t been as effective as last season, such as offensive linemen Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson. Both went on the attack for Patul, saying the whole team should point the finger at them, with Mailata saying “it’s easier to blame someone who is paid less”.

Head coach Siriani would say: “There will be time to evaluate everyone’s performance.

“Right now, I feel for all of our guys in the locker room, all of the players, all of the coaches, the front office, everyone who works so hard … I feel for all of us, all of them, and there will be time to evaluate everything that’s coming,” Siriani said.

It remains to be seen if Patullo will be released as the Eagles look to rebound next season.
