Jonathan Cumminga’s mysterious one-word answer on a potential injury return

The The Golden State Warriors have been up and down so far in the 2025-26 NBA season, he is currently 10-9 after a comfortable home win over the Utah Jazz on Monday night. The Warriors have played their last few games no wing Jonathan Cummingswho was out of the lineup due to knee tendinitis.
Most recently, NBA insider Anthony Slater of the Athletics gave the latest update on the advancement of Kuminga’s status.
“He asked Jonathan Cummings on his way out of the locker room last night about his return from knee tendinitis: ‘Soon,’ he said. He didn’t give a specific date, but it sounded like his plan was to increase court activity this week. He’s missed the last six games,” Slater reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Kuminga had a relatively strong start to the year for the Warriors before the injury, following an offseason in which he and the team were embroiled in a lengthy contract dispute before finally agreeing to a deal just before the campaign began.
However, the Warriors’ overall depth has been weak so far this year, with the likes of Brandin Podziemski, Al Horford and Quentin Post frustrating the fan base with inconsistent play, and Stephen Curry also suffering through some uncharacteristically rough games (although he’s had some great ones).
Overall, the fact that the Warriors are just 10-9 despite having a relatively easy schedule so far and not suffering too many injuries outside of Kuminga is certainly not a great sign, and with a team as old as this one, it’s not very wise to predict that things will get any better.
Either way, the Warriors will next take the floor on Wednesday night at home against the Houston Rockets. That game will begin at 10:00 PM ET.
