Jonathan Kumahan Kinginga will not play against the Pelicans
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Cumminga remains out for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Due to back-to-back wins against the San Antonio Spurs, incl Stephen Curry’s 49-point performance for the Warriors after losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State will play three in a row.
Kuminga was officially off on Saturday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
“Jonathan Cummings remains out for the Warriors tomorrow night in New Orleans. Zion Williamson is questionable. Jordan Poole is out. It will be Kevon Looney’s first game against the Warriors in 10 seasons with the franchise,” Slater reported.
10 year veteran Kevon Looney agreed to a two-year contractworth $16 million with the Pelicans in free agency after spending his entire career with the Warriors. Saturday’s match will be the first time Looney faces his former team.

Pelicans veteran Kevon Looney expressed the frustration that led him to leave the Warriors over the summer as his reduced role over the years began to take its toll. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr often turned to other options.
However, in Game 7 of the Warriors’ first-round series against the Rockets, Looney admitted that watching rookie center Quinten Post play over him ultimately led to him consider playing for another teamhe said, according to the Warriors Plus Minus podcast.
“We’re going against Stephen Adams. That’s what I do. You’re not going to believe me,” Looney said. “They put me in it, at the end of Game 7, when we were on the road at that point. They don’t give me a chance to really let me do what I do. It’s like, OK, you don’t believe me. I thought you’d believe me.”

Despite Looney’s feelings about how his role diminished toward the end of his Warriors tenure, seeing so many familiar faces should make for a great reunion with the three-time championship center.
