Kevin Durant is pulling even with Russell Westbrook with the latest NBA feat
On Sunday night, Houston Rockets they found themselves in the barn against the Orlando Magic without Paolo Banchero. That Magic squad pushed the Rockets to the limit all night, but Durant and the Rockets had the final say. After nearly putting the game away late in regulation, it was Durant who hit a dagger from mid-range in overtime, finishing with 35 points on the night in a 117-113 victory.
The win moved the Rockets to 9-3 on the season, and was as good as advertised after their rich offseason that followed a 52-win campaign in 2024-25. Durant, in particular, was incredible after the Rockets acquired him in a blockbuster trade that required them to part with Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks.
In addition to the 35 points he recorded, he recorded five rebounds and six assists. In that way, the Rockets star he tied Russell Westbrook most games with at least 30 points, five rebounds and five assists with 174, according to StatMuse.
Stuffing the stat sheets isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Durant. He may be the best player the league has ever seen, and in terms of scoring, there is hardly anyone who can match the Rockets star in NBA history.
But what makes Durant such an impactful star is that he throws in any way he can. He helps on the boards, is unselfish in the basketball, and even makes himself felt on defense with his poor shot blocking.
At 37 years old, Durant is still one of the best players in the NBAand it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
The Rockets must overcome injury issues

The Rockets will be without several key guys for at least the next few weeks. Tarry Eason recently suffered an oblique injury it would keep him out for more than a month, and he joins Dorian Finney-Smith and Fred VanVleet on the mend.
The likes of Reid Shepard, Josh Okogie and even Aaron Holiday need to step up. It won’t be sustainable for the Rockets to play an eight-man rotation this early in the regular season, so expect head coach Ime Udoka to try to unearth some hidden gems over the next few weeks.
