Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns gives blunt response to finger injury concerns
With The New York Knicks are potentially looking to add at the trade deadline in an already stacked lineup, they would suffer a loss to the Detroit Pistons, 124-119, as their star Karl-Anthony Towns suffered a finger injury. As Knicks fans may be displeased with Monday’s loss, they could also be concerned about Towns’ issue as he talked about it after the game.
There wasn’t much to say from the big man, as according to Steve Popper’s transcript, Towns would be asked all sorts of questions about the finger injury. In response, he would have short answers with a phrase “it is what it is” said more than once, which could be that he doesn’t know more about the matter or is downplaying something serious that is pure speculation.
“Ah, it is what it is. So that’s really it,” Towns said.
Towns slammed his hand into the backboard during the first half where he was clearly in pain, clutching his finger and twitching. Still, he would have a solid game in which the 29-year-old finished with 26 points on 7-for-17 shooting, including four of nine from beyond the arc, with 12 rebounds.
New York’s head coach Tom Thibodeau he would also have a short answer about Towns’ injury.
“I haven’t talked to the doctor yet,” Thibodeau said.
The The Knicks have dealt with other injuries such as Jalen Brunson have a shoulder problem, although that seems to have gone away leading to impressive play.

Still, his 31-point performance along with Towns wasn’t enough to topple Detroit what was the shooting.
“They were guessing when they had to,” Towns said, via the New York Post. “We could sit here and talk about all the things we could have done.” We just didn’t do it. It costs us in the end.”
Nick star Josh Hart would finish with 12 points, 14 rebounds and five assists while speaking in the locker room talking as the team does not have much time to rectify his troubles according to ESPN.
“We’re losing games, I don’t think we should be,” Hart said. “We’ve got to start realizing that … But if we’re going to be the team we’re trying to be at the end of the season, we’ve got to start getting things right now.”
While there are many facets to a loss, Thibodeau would talk about his players complaining to the refs about calls that could cost the other side points.
“If you go back and talk to the official, it could be three points,” Thibodeau said. “It’s a long season. Nobody is perfect. Officials, it’s a tough job. Very difficult. There’s emotion in the game, there’s frustration, but you also have to understand the pace at which the game is played. You can’t afford to complain. You can give a point on a dead ball to the referee. They’re usually pretty good with that, but if you do it when the ball is live, now you’re at a disadvantage on the other end, it becomes a five-on-four and it becomes an open 3 or a layup, and then at the end, maybe it’s a one-possession game.
New York is 26-15 as they face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
