Knicks rivals believe Karl-Anthony Towns trade ‘in play’
The The New York Knicks have had an up and down seasonand some wonder if the team’s roster will be shaken up in the coming days. While many analysts and journalists consider Nix to be a great man Karl-Anthony Towns is untouchable, a the new report throws cold water on it on that term.
“There is a belief among some rival teams that Towns.” is in the game to a certain degree. Or that the Knicks, at the very least, tried to get a feel for what his market would be,” Mark Stein wrote on his Substack account The Stein Line.
Stein believes the Knicks could use Towns to bring another big star to the Big Apple.
“When it really comes down to it, would the Knicks be willing to deal Towns in any trade that doesn’t involve acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee?” he wrote.
New York is 27-18. The Knicks have lost six of their last 10 games.
The Knicks are looking for answers this season

The Knicks have changed their coach ahead of the 2025/26 season. New York brought in Mike Brown to replace Tom Thibodeau, who failed to lead the club to the NBA Finals.
While the Knicks got off to a hot start to the season under Brown, the club has been reeling lately. After losing at Madison Square Garden to the Dallas Mavericks, Knicks star Jaylen Brunson called a team-only meeting.
Brunson was particularly frustrated with the team’s lack of intensity in defense.
“As a team we know what we have to do. Either we do it, we care enough to do it or we don’t,” Brunson said of the need for a team meeting, according to ESPN.
New York has some property if he chooses to trade, it does not include cities.
“The Knicks are mostly out of their own picks, at least from a trade perspective. They have their first-round picks in 2026, 2030 and 2032, but they can’t be traded because of the Stepien Rule. However, the Knicks can offer trade rights, which could be quite valuable in those deep future years,” the CBS Sports team reports.
If the Knicks trade Towns, it will happen soon. The NBA trade deadline is February 5th.
