Lots of tension…and the Hawks are pushing the Magic
A duel between the East’s two early-season frustrations turned in the Hawks’ favor on Tuesday. Atlanta logically defeated Orlando, which was definitely in bad shape (127-112). In Georgia, the Magic took the water again defensively.
Florida’s tough night started in the first quarter. The address completely avoids visitors, forced to rely on them Paolo Banchero etc Tristan Da Silva to keep the shock (5/8 shooting for the duo, 4/16 for the rest of the team). Desmond Bane is in great pain before the newly discovered aggressiveness Zachary Risacher. The Frenchman is a pleasure to watch and he doesn’t miss any opportunity to hurt the opponent’s defense with his eleven points in six minutes.
By bending, Magic breaks for the first time. Atlanta picks up the pace again. Risacher, Luke Kennard, Whit Krejci, Kristaps Porzingis, Dyson Daniels… Everyone contributes to 13-0, synonymous with the first significant deficit (41-23, 15′). Bane enters his match and gives Magic some oxygen. The former Grizzlies rush, and Orlando punishes the turnovers of the opposing team to get back to within four points. But the improvement was short-lived. Porzingis is hurting Wendell Carter Jrhe couldn’t stop him without being fired. A symbol of this inability to stop the Hawks, Jalen Suggs receives an unsportsmanlike foul for hanging on the hoop for a counter Jalen Johnson on the counterattack, and commits his third foul. Risacher and Nickeil Alexander-Walker add a layer with their 3-point prowess, and Atlanta returns to the locker room with a 17-point lead (64-47).
Desmond Bane sent off
And halftime doesn’t change anything. The Hawks are doing what they want offensively and the entire Georgia collective is talking. Debates get tense, but everyone has their own reaction to tension. Dyson Daniels gets a technical, then recovers by stealing the ball from Suggs for two more easy points. Desmond Bane sees red. The back part is totally: big mistake on Mr. Okongwu in transition, the ball hits his opponent’s head as he falls and then fights with Mo Gueye.

The back end is off and it’s very expensive with the action at … six points as Nikhil Alexander-Walker hits from long range in free possession (85-65). On the ropes, Magic will not recover. There are improvements in attack, but it’s a different matter on the other side of the field. Orlando drew foul after foul and gave the Hawks 17 free throws in the final quarter. Atlanta didn’t need to be asked and wrapped up one of its best performances of the season.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The Hawks found a recipe without Tree Young. And two wins in Atlanta’s three games since the injury to its star. Quin Snyder decided to play his team as quickly as possible due to the lack of a true leader in the top five. It’s not always optimal (seven turnovers for Nikhil Alexander Walker), but the pressure on the Magic’s defense quickly put the Magic in trouble. With this dilution of responsibilities, everyone is involved and six players finish between 14 and 21 points.
– Zucker Rizacher in relation to the melody. In difficulties since the beginning of the season, the Frenchman was exemplary on Tuesday. His attacking intensity quickly took Desmond Bain out of the match while also getting into a shooting rhythm. He finished as the Hawks’ leading scorer with 21 points (16 in the first period) on 7/14 shooting in 26 minutes, making a very good impression.
– Orlando had nothing of magic. The meetings are back-to-back and similar for Orlando, abandoned by an offense and an increasingly concerned defense. And now it looks difficult, as the visitors looked nervous, until the gesture of Desmond Bain, released in the third quarter. This matchup is one to forget, and quickly, as a doubleheader against Boston looms.
