Malik Beasley signs with Puerto Rico’s Bad Bunny team

After a stunning, lively, and a cultural performance at halftime of the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny has added some NBA talent to his team from Puerto Rico. Malik Beasley will be new addition to the teamdespite being under investigation for gambling allegations, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
“Free agent Malik Beasley has signed a contract to play in Puerto Rico for the Grammy Award-winning artist team Bad Bunny’s Santurce Crabbers, both sides tell ESPN. The team’s season starts in March. Beasley is under investigation by the NBA and the FBI for gambling allegations,” Charania wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
NBA teams did not sign Beasley during the offseason due to the charges, giving him a chance to return to the pool for next offseason.
“This gives Beasley an opportunity to play for the Bad Bunny team in Puerto Rico and hit free agency in 2026 while awaiting a decision on his NBA investigation. Beasley averaged 16.3 points in all 82 games for the Pistons last season, setting a franchise record 319 three-pointers,” Charania wrote.
Beasley has been linked to a federal investigation when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023-24 season. All of this happened while he was a free agent, leading to teams not signing him due to his unknown allegations.
There have been several cases around the league this season related to gambling. At the beginning of the season, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were arrested. Billups was indicted for his alleged involvement in a wide-ranging, multi-year scheme to defraud poker players, with Rozier allegedly deliberately pulling himself out of the game in 2023 so an accomplice could bet and win.
If Beasley is found innocent, teams will likely be interested in signing him whenever all is clear.
