Miles Bridges takes responsibility for Charlotte’s losses against the Bucks

The Charlotte Hornets entered the Fiserv Forum on Friday night looking to steal a win against the veterans Milwaukee Bucks team, and for almost two quarters everything went according to plan. But the running game turned into a heartbreaker as the Hornets fell 122-121, missing great performances from their young core.
While the box score will highlight the duel between Kon Knuepel and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the postgame conversation in the Charlotte locker room focused on missed opportunities. Miles Bridgeswho is back in action after being listed as probable with an ankle injury, he has not shied away from blame regarding the team’s safety issues.
“It’s all me. It started with me,” Bridges said, referring to the sloppy stretch to close the first half. “We’ve got to take care of the ball. We had them up, what… 15? We’ve got to get on their necks right there.”

Bridges alluded to a key swing in the second quarter where the Hornets, holding a double-digit lead, allowed Milwaukee to claw their way back into the game through a series of empty possessions. Charlotte finished with 14 turnovers on the night, giving the Bucks 21 points off those turnovers. In a one-point game, those freebies made all the difference.
It was a tough pill to swallow on a night where the Hornets offense was otherwise clicking. Knapp was spectacularalmost tied with Antetokounmpo, who finished with 30 points. LaMelo Ball added 12 points and seven assists, continuing his strong play since returning from his own injury woes. However, the Bucks’ experience came through in the clutch, with Antetokounmpo and Ryan Rollins making the necessary plays down the stretch to secure the win.
