Nico Harrison’s viral clip resurfaces amid early season slump

Through the first nine games of the regular season, c The Dallas Mavericks are in in last place in the Western Conference with a record of 2-7. It’s been a mess at the start of the 2025-26 campaign, with the team not meshing well at the moment. As a result, an old viral video of Fr Nico Harrison defending his business after trading Luka Dončić The Los Angeles Lakers are making a comeback on social media.
Back in April, after the Mavericks general manager initially made the trade, Harrison was asked directly why he shouldn’t be fired for trading the 26-year-old star. In the clip, Nico Harrison claimed that Dallas would be competing for the championship in the 2025-26 season.
“I think I did a really good job here,” Harrison said. “And I don’t think you can judge this year by injuries. You have to judge the totality from start to finish. … You’ll see next year when our team comes back, we’ll be competing for a championship.”

It’s still early in the season, but The Mavericks look anything but currently a title contender. Injuries to Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Derek Lively II certainly don’t help. That forces Dallas to rely on rookie Cooper Flagg. While Flagg is considered a prolific prospect with franchise-changing potential, he is still a rookie and adjusting to the pro level.
Health is of utmost importance. Plus, there’s still plenty of time for the Mavericks to right the ship. However, if the losing streak continues, things could get a little tight for Nick Harrison.
Dallas will have a chance to get its third win of the season on Saturday when the Mavericks play the Washington Wizards at 7pm ET. Washington is one of only three teams with a worse record than the Mavs.
