Pistons resist furious Heat comeback

Cade CunninghamAfter two consecutive defeats, c Clips almost suffered the same fate last night in Miami as they blew a 22 point lead in the 4th quarter! But the main thing was done as Cade Cunningham’s partners beat the Heat 138-135.

Detroit was never to tremble like that, as “regional on the scene” Duncan Robinson launched a 13-0 run to allow them to end the first quarter with a thirteen-point lead (36-23). It was him again who led by 15 points in the 3rd quarter (93-78) before Jaden Ivey and Dennis Jenkins alternated on a 9-0 run to take a 19-point lead at the end of the third quarter (108-89).

A deficit that would further increase in the 4th quarter to level at +22 eight minutes from the end after Ron Holland’s i-1. Where many coaches would raise the white flag, Erik Spoelstra is giving his star players one last chance.

Andrew Wiggins is the one who sounds the riot with a big offensive rebound, which he returns. Again it’s him who finds Pelle Larsson and then Bam Adebayo for a dunk. In three minutes, the Heat already won eight points (127-114).

Cunningham has ruined almost everything

Cunningham gets the Pistons going again, but loses two balls in a row! It’s Wiggins who is punishing again, and at the start of the money time, the Heat trail by just 11 points. While Cunningham loses the new ball and fouls Norman Powell’s 3-pointer, Miami ends a 13-0 run and gets back to within two points (131-129). There are 55 seconds left to play.

Caught by two near the halfway line, Cade Cunningham redeems himself by finding Jenkins who uses the excess to rush the circle (133-129). Bam Adebayo responds with a shot after a Wiggins miss (133-131). With 34 seconds left, Cunningham would air-condition the room with a shot to the heart of the racket after breaking through the first curtain. In the back, Norman Powell lost the ball on his drive, and the Pistons ended up winning 138-135 to give themselves some breathing space atop the Eastern Conference.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

– Victory return for Robinson. Warmly welcomed by his former crowd, Duncan Robinson did not miss his comeback with 18 points and the victory in the end. He sparked a 13-0 run in the first quarter to allow the Pistons to take control, eventually by the end.

– Dr. Cade and Mr. Cunningham. Author of 29 points, Cade Cunningham almost spoiled it in the last five minutes with three of his eight turnovers! Caught by the Heat, who chose to ignore Auzar Thompson, the All-Star leader finally saved the best for last with this game-winning shot to the heart of the racket after perfectly placing the support.

– Enchaine Andrew Wiggins. We have to go back to March 23rd to find any trace of a game of 30 points or more from the former Warriors winger. In creation, as well as in the finish, he was very good, and used the strong defense of the Pistons on Tyler Hero to exploit the spaces.
