Ready for a dunk contest? Shaedon Sharpe tomahawk heaven

The Portland Trail Blazers visited the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday at the Smoothie King Center, and Shaedon Sharpe he made sure to give the fans a special treat.

The Trail Blazers got off to a great start, outscoring the Pelicans 30-25 in the first quarter. New Orleans, however, fought back in the second frame to keep pace with Portland.

But Sharp left his mark in the last minute of the first half after unleashing a tomahawk strike on the break after an assist by Chris Murray. Even the commentator couldn’t believe what he was seeing, judging by his voice.

Jose Alvarado made the right decision to get out of the way.

The 22-year-old Sharpe has racked up quite a few stunning dunks in his young career. Fans wanted to see the quarterback jump for dunks on All-Star weekend. He committed in 2023, but later withdrew.

Sharpe, selected seventh overall in 2022, is one of the key cogs of the Trail Blazers. In his third season, he is coming out strong, averaging 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.

This season, he increased his numbers to 19.7 points and 5.1 rebounds, as he became more comfortable with a bigger role. Playing with Jrue Holiday in the backcourt definitely helps, as he is sure to learn a lot from the veteran quarterback.

Jeremy Grant and Yves Missy were sent off from the game in the second quarter after a physical confrontation.

As of this writing, the Trail Blazers have built a double-digit lead over the Pelicans heading into the fourth quarter.
