St. Louis dealt a brutal blow to Jake Neighbors

The St. Louis Blues they have a hard way andin the 2025-26 NHL regular seasonand injuries add to the team’s headaches.
The Blues, who are already without star center Robert Thomas, will also have to continue their season without key forward Jake Neighbors for the next few weeks. St. Louis announced on Tuesday that Neighbors had been placed on injured reserve, and that he will be reassessed in five weeks.
Neighbors, 23, suffered a right leg injury during last Saturday’s 6-4 road loss against the Detroit Red Wings. Since then, the Blues have lost two more games, including another to the Red Wings at home on Tuesday night by a score of 5-2.
Neighbor’s injury puts him on the shelf just as he’s putting together an excellent individual campaign for the Blues, who fell to 3-6-1 and saw their losing streak stretch to five games after their most recent loss to the Red Wings.
The absence of their neighbors further hurts St. Louis, who mostly relies on their offense to keep them in games. The Blues’ defense has been terrible so far, entering Tuesday second worst in the league with an average of 4.33 goals allowed per game and last with a 5-on-5 save percentage of 3,877.
Despite missing two games so far, Neighbors still leads the Blues with six goals and is level with Jordan Kyrou on points with seven.
Selected in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the BluesNeighbors managed to find his way to St. Louis’ top line after starting the 2025-26 season on the third line. In addition to his huge impact on offense, Neighbors also did a great job on defense, collecting 20 total hits to go along with five blocks.
With the Blues missing Neighbors and Thomas, Kyrow, Pavel Buchnevich, Jimmy Snuggerud, Nathan Walker and Braiden Shenn are expected to have expanded roles on the ice.
St. Louis will rest this Wednesday before returning to action on Thursday when they host the visiting Vancouver Canucks at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
