Stephen Curry announced Jonathan Cumminga’s trade request

The Golden State Warriors they’ve been playing much better basketball lately, winning four of their last five games, including a 126-113 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. And better days may be coming soon for the Warriors as they look to bolster their roster using Jonathan Cuminga’s contract as a trade chip.

Cuminga’s days with the Warriors are numberedand they can even be counted with one hand. The 22-year-old striker and his camp have already requested a tradeand it’s not hard to see why considering how he literally doesn’t play a single minute for the team and hasn’t for nearly the last month.

But for Stephen Curry and Oaks, Kuming situation it was not distracting despite knowing this is just a roadblock the team will have to clear over the next few weeks before the trade deadline at 3:00 PM ET on February 5th.

“It’s not a distraction at all. It’s a very unique situation. Our job is to keep playing, keep winning. It’s going to work out one way or another,” Curry said, per Anthony Slater of the Athletics.

Could the Warriors be a game-changer in the Jonathan Cummings trade?

It’s not entirely clear what direction the Warriors will take for their inevitable trade of Cummings. Trey Murphy is out of the question, as the New Orleans Pelicans set an asking price that’s impossible for almost any team to match. Michael Porter Jr. he was reportedly never a serious target for the Dubs. Maybe it is The Warriors will trade Kuminga for center to address this longstanding need.

But one thing is certain: Kuminga played his last game for the Warriors. Can he become the star of his future team or is he doomed to a life of providing empty stats for a losing team?
