Steve Ballmer is being sued by Aspiration investors over the Kawhi Leonard scandal
The The Los Angeles Clippers won off to a tepid start to the 2025-26 NBA season, currently at 3-3 after Monday night’s home loss at the Miami Heat. Kawhi Leonard had a chance to win this game at the buzzer, but his three-point attempt from the wing over two defenders ended up clattering in front of the rim.
Leonard and the team owner Steve Ballmer were the subject of a months-long investigation, centered on allegations that the star signed a non-disclosure agreement from now-bankrupt Aspiration in an attempt to lower the NBA’s salary cap.
now, new development came out in a scandal that doesn’t necessarily paint the Clippers in a vindictive light.
“PLOOM: Steve Ballmer is being sued by Aspiration investors over alleged scheme to ‘secretly funnel millions’ to Kawhi Leonard,” Pablo Torre Finds Out reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Torre was the reporter who originally broke the story about the alleged no-show deal, and this latest evidence certainly doesn’t look good for the Clippers.
Big scandal for the Clippers

If it weren’t for Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups and the FBI, the Clippers scandal would probably be the biggest scandal to hit the NBA right now. Los Angeles wouldn’t be the first (alleged) team to try to lower the league’s salary cap, as in the late 1990s and early 2000s the Minnesota Timberwolves faced a similar investigation involving player Joe Smith, and ended up having to forego the draft, pay fines and face suspensions within the organization for a number of figures.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver has already said the league’s investigation likely won’t be over by the All-Star break, at which point the Clippers will host festivities at their home arena, the Intuit Dome. Still, Los Angeles fans and players will likely enjoy seeing this resolved as soon as possible.
The Clippers will next take the floor on Tuesday night at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
