The Atlanta Braves they rise former All-Star first baseman Garrett Cooper, according to FanSided. Cooper is under contract with a minor league team, so it is uncertain whether he will see any appearances for the club. The contract includes an invitation to spring training.

Cooper was a free agent looking for a home. In the 2024 season, the infielder split time between the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox. He appeared in just 36 Major League Baseball games and posted a .206 batting average.

Atlanta is looking to make a deeper postseason run in 2025, but the team may need some extra help to do so. The Braves are expected to start the season without Ronald Acuna Jr.who is recovering from a torn ACL.

Cooper may find an opportunity to play with the club if he is able to maintain a solid spring training. The first baseman had great seasons playing for the Marlins. In the 2019 season, he hit 15 home runs and played 107 games.

During his All-Star season in 2022, the infielder hit .261 with nine home runs and 50 RBI. That was the last full season he played in Miami, as he was traded to the San Diego Padres the following year. Cooper hasn’t had the same success since being traded from Miami at the 2023 MLB trade deadline.

Cooper played outfield early in his career, and Atlanta could use some depth there due to Acuna’s injury. Brian De La Cruz, who played in Miami with Cooper, is now also with the Braves. It looks like the opportunity is certainly there for Cooper if he can get his shots back.

Cooper began his MLB career playing for the New York Yankees during the 2017 season.
