The Pistons are simply too strong for the Hawks
The two teams were well rested after several days without any games, and the start of the match was even, with neither team gaining an advantage. THE Hawks manage to find a 3-point target when the duo Cade Cunningham – Jalen Duren shines in Detroit, the first in particular, which is in charge of the attack (34-33). Then, the defense Clips pick it up, steal the balloons and turn them into ammo. Jalen Johnson well limited, the Hawks no longer follow and give up a little at the break (69-60).
This was confirmed after returning from the locker room with a Detroit team that is still gaining momentum. JB Bickerstaff’s men started the second half with an 8-0 lead before completely unraveling.
So much so that twelve minutes from the end the match fell (104-79) or almost, because Quinn Snyder and his players have no solution. The last quarter did not change the situation and the leaders of the Eastern Conference easily won 142-115 and signed the third victory in a row.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Slow and progressive killing. It wasn’t the Pistons who made the difference with an intense and important run. It’s good little by little, minute by minute, good deed after good deed. With effective defense and attack, they achieved more than their opponents. Over four or five minutes, it’s a little noticeable, over fifteen or twenty minutes, it’s obvious. A match for the boss.
– Well used ammunition. Two figures may illustrate the dominance of the local population at this meeting. They scored 30 points on the counterattack and took advantage of the Hawks’ 20 turnovers (16 turnovers) for 27 points.
– Jaylen Johnson messed up well. When we look at his stats, we don’t get the impression that the winger has missed his game: 19 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds. Another triple-double. But you have to look at everything: he also lost 6 balls and shot only 7/19. Ausar Thompson hampered him and the entire Detroit team did a good job of limiting his impact, keeping him from being a game-giver. Plus he didn’t get paid for missing a couple of pretty easy shots near the circle. Without their offensive engine running at full throttle, Atlanta couldn’t break down Detroit’s defense or advance at the same pace.
