The Warriors are confident against the Jazz

Narrowly defeated by the Lakers the day before, the jazz started the match fast. Keyonta George (28 points, 7 assists), Lauri Markkanen (17 points, 6/19 shooting) and Ace Bailey (21 points) make three of three threes, while the Warriors remain zero of five (11-0). We need an aggressive Jimmy Butler (18 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds) and the defense finally in place for Golden State to respond with a 17-3! However, the Dubs were clumsy from distance as Utah once again pushed forward. Fifteen points by George and 9 by Brice Sensabo (14 points) in the first quarter give the Jazz some breathing room (35-26).
Golden State’s scathing wake-up call
Shouting from Steve Kerr wake up Warriors. Will Richard (9 points, 6 rebounds), Moses Moody (15 points) and Jimmy Butler increase the intensity and go on a 21-0 run to start the second quarter (47-35)! Keyon George’s return is needed to stop the bleeding, but Stephen Curry’s shooting and Buddy Hield’s nine points (20 points) off the bench allow Golden State to return to the locker room with a 12-point lead (67-55).
Two game-winning shots by Stephen Curry and Moses Moody brought the deficit to seventeen lengths at the beginning of the third quarter (80-63). Clumsy in the first half, Lauri Markkanen tries to reduce his team’s deficit, but 14 points from a suddenly released Stephen Curry keep the Jazz at bay (94-77).
Jimmy Butler replaces the Chiefs, and Golden State switches to a zone defense to score a point (106-81). Gary Payton II’s 3-pointer (9 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds), omnipresent last night, heralds the beginning of garbage. The Warriors are ending a three-game losing streak before hosting the Rockets on Wednesday night.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
Warriors start slowly before finding their cruising speed. Golden State outclassed the Jazz in the second and third quarters, winning 80-49! Street defensive and sloppy in the first quarter, the Warriors shifted gears after this lackluster first period. Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry were aggressive at the rim to punish the Utah defense. Curry scored 22 points, Butler added 9 points and 7 assists. After them, the whole team shone (34 assists), especially Buddy Hield, Quinten Post and Will Richard.
Gary Payton II, Quinten Post and Trace Jackson-Davis grab their chance. With Draymond Green, Jonathan Cummings and Al Horford out with injuries, Steve Kerr started Gary Payton II in the box next to Quinten Post and inserted Trace Jackson-Davis into the rotation. Utah was aggressive on Stephen Curry’s pick and roll, and GP2 took advantage of the opportunity to imitate Draymond Green on the roll. Patient and selfless, he dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds. Post and Jackson-Davis also got the job done, but they face a much bigger test in two days against the Rockets…
Keyonta George, MFA candidate? The young jazz leader was the main reason for Colin Sexton’s move to Charlotte (and Jusuf Nurkic’s arrival in Utah). Jazz executives wanted to give him the keys to the truck, and he agreed. He scored more than 20 points in ten of his team’s first seventeen games, and more than ten in the other seven. He went from 16.8 points per game last season to 23.2 this season. He is also dishing out more than 7 assists per game while playing just three more minutes per game.
