Tim Duncan’s text about Derrick Quinn was revealed on the show

The The New Orleans Pelicans fell to a 2-7 record on Saturday after suffering a 126-119 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. It looks like it’s going to be a long season as the club is off to a slow start. However, the future could be incredibly bright as the Hall of Fame continues to thrive Tim Duncan is apparently a huge Derrick Quinn fan.
During the broadcast of Saturday’s game, Antonio Daniels revealed that he was Duncan sent him a message of thanks the Pelicans’ rookie center. With the legendary Spurs striker attending the competition, he seemingly left the arena impressed with Quinn.
“Right now, I’m sitting here with my phone in my hand, and Tim Duncan just texted me about Derrick Quinn,” Daniels said. “He said, ‘Man, I really like the Queen guy.’ Me too, bro! Me too!”
The 20-year-old rookie center showed potential early in his career. He finished Saturday’s game against the Spurs with 13 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Derrick Quinn plays as a playmaking center, as he led the Pelicans in assists in that contest.
His performance was noticeable, as he appeared to be Queen a cog in the Pelicans’ offensive machine. Despite the loss, New Orleans can at least feel good about the future, as this is just the beginning of Derrick Quinn’s career.
If he continues to play like this, then head coach Willie Green may have to give Quinn more playing time. In nine games played, Derrick Quinn is averaging 8.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 44.4% from the field and 76.7% from the free throw line.
We’ll see Queen and his team in action again on Monday. They will take on the Phoenix Suns in what will be a road game for the Pelicans.
