Tuomas Iisalo dismisses Ja Morant’s disappointing update

The Memphis Grizzlies are off to a disappointing start to the season, sitting 11th in the Western Conference with a 4-8 record. The team has faced turmoil, mostly at point guard I Morant. But he is still solid for the team on the field.

During Tuesday’s 133-120 loss to the New York Knicks, Morant suffered a minor ankle injury.

As tip-off approaches Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics, Grizzlies head coach Tuomas Iisalo revealed that Morant “an upward trend,” per ClutchPoints beat reporter Daniel Donabedian. Not long after, it was announced that Morant was officially coming out.

This season, Morant has played in 11 of the team’s 12 games. He averages 18.9 points and 8.1 assists per game. However, he is shooting just 35 percent from the field this season, a career low for the controversial point guard. His ineffectiveness, coupled with the team’s struggles, is fueled trade rumors.

He is coming off a 16-point, 10-assist game against the Knicks. However, fans have spoken out on social media troll the Grizzlies star for his eight turnovers.

Memphis is already without center Zach Eddy. And without Morant’s services, it could prove to be a tough sled at TD Garden. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be looked at to pick up more offensive slack.

Meanwhile, guards Cam Spencer and Cedric Coward could get more run time against the Celtics.

Boston, on the other hand, has all hands on deck for Wednesday’s game. That obviously dwarfs the absence of All-Star Jayson Tatum, who is still recovering from an ACL injury suffered in the playoffs last season.
