Tyrese McKay sends a warm message to De’Anthony Melton after the win

The Philadelphia 76ers outlasted the Golden State Warriors in a low-scoring affair, 99-98, at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Thursday behind a heroic backcourt duo Tyrese McKay and VJ Edgecombe.
Edgecombe scored the winning basket after turning over a missed shot by Maxi with just 0.9 ticks remaining. Maxey, meanwhile, made a game-saving block after denying De’Anthony Melton’s last-ditch attempt as time expired.
It was a great effort by Maxi. It was also memorable because he and Melton are close friends. On the question about stopping the clutch, Mackey refused to gloat. Instead, he shared a touching remark about Melton.
“I’m happy to see him there. He was at our house for two to three hours yesterday, just chopping, just talking about life. I’m glad to see him there smiling,” Maxey said in a video posted by Sixers Wire’s Ky Carlin.
The All-Star guard, however, also joked, “I told him I was giving him one jump.

Maxey and Melton developed a strong bond during their time together with the 76ers from 2022 to 2024. Melton took Maxey under his wing and helped him become a more mature player.
Melton, 27, made his season debut after recovering from an ACL injury that also limited him to just six games last season. He scored 14 points, three assists and two steals in 21 minutes off the bench.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Maxi had 35 points, three rebounds and two steals.
The 76ers improved to 12-9, while the Warriors, who lost Draymond Green to a foot injury in the second quarter, dropped to 11-12.
