Victor Wembaniama was called out by reporters for snubbing the media after the Jazz loss

After handing the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder their third loss in 12 days, Victor Vembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs coughed up an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter in a 127-114 loss Utah Jazz. Disappointing loss, after Two straight wins for the Spurs against the Thunderends eight-game winning streak. After the game, Vembanyama reportedly avoided the media.

Vembanjama, who rarely shies away from the media, avoided journalists following the Spurs’ loss to the Jazz, per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

“We love everything Victor says. Victor is great at talking after games all the time,” Bontemps said. “Just, if you’re going to brag after winning, don’t disappear when you lose in Utah. That’s all.”

For Bontemps, it’s a dire prospect, with Spurs introducing a new home victory celebration after a 20-point win against the Thunder two days before Christmas.

“I wouldn’t say it’s the best look for Victor Vembanyama to go from beating the drum after beating the Thunder to not talking after their eight-game winning streak ends against the Jazz,” Bontemps added.

In his first start since Nov. 14, Vembanjama finished with 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting, seven rebounds and three assists without a minute limit. Keldon Johnson scored 27 points on an efficient 10-for-15 shooting, including 5-for-7 from deep, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Spurs bench.

All-Star Victor Wembanyama says Spurs have a plan to beat the defending champions Thunder after their win on Christmas Day. However, Wembanyama was hesitant to call to beat the Thunder three times in 12 days statement for the rest of the NBA, he said, per Hector Ledesma of ClutchPoints.

“Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t,” he said. “We’re focused on the rest of the season. It’s very long, we’re not even halfway there. I’m not even sure it’s wise to look that far into the future.”

The Spurs will host the Cavaliers for the second night of back-to-back games at the Frost Bank Center.
