What did Steve Kerr watch instead of Donald Trump’s inauguration

When it comes to the NBA, one of the most Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. So it’s no surprise that Steve Kerr didn’t bother to watch Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
So what was Kerr watching instead? When asked about the inauguration that took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Kerr noted that he didn’t watch any of it at all, preferring to watch film of the Boston Celtics, per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. Kerr also noted that it was special to play on MLK Day and all that it represents.
Although Kerr has been a vocal critic of Trump, and may not have watched the inauguration anyway, the upcoming Warriors vs. Celtics game is probably more of a concern for Kerr than anything else right now.
The Celtics enter the game with a 29-13 record and the second best record in the Eastern Conference standings behind only the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics are coming off a home loss to the Atlanta Hawks and are now on a four-game road trip in the West that will also take them to the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks.

By comparison, the Warriors are 21-20 and in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. They began the 2024-25 season with a 12-3 record, but have struggled since then with inconsistent play and injuries. Warriors will be without Draymond Green for at least a week while he deals with a calf injury.
In addition to Green, the Warriors are without Jonathan Cumminga, who is dealing with an ankle injury. Also without two key players in the rotation are Brandin Podziemski and Kyle Anderson, both of whom are also dealing with injuries. So it stands to reason that Kerr may have more on his mind than the inauguration.
The Celtics got off to a great start, building a double-digit lead over the Warriors late in the second quarter. The Celtics have had injury issues, as Kristaps Porzingis missed the team’s loss to the Hawks due to injury. Porzingis is back in the Celtics lineup against the Warriors.
Veteran Al Horford also missed the Hawks game with a toe injury, but he too was not on the team’s injury report against the Warriors.
