What is the biggest problem facing the league today? Is it alcohol?

NBA All-Star weekend has come and goneand with that, you get time for NBA players to sit back and relax. They also respond to the media and can reflect on the issues facing the NBA today. One of the biggest issues facing the NBA that players were questioned about was tension, and the same goes for player participation. But one player said alcohol spillage was another issue to discuss.

Every year, The Athletic polls every player on NBA All-Star Weekend and asks them questions around the world. This year they asked what the biggest problem was facing the NBA was, and responses ranged from players competing with injuries to no problem, but one player said the biggest problem was excessive alcohol at games.

That answer came from Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington. He said, “Maybe they’re selling too much alcohol at the games,” said Carrington, who attended the Rising Stars game. “They keep spilling it on the field. You have to stop the game to wipe it out.”

The Athletic even noted that Carrington’s answer was their favorite of the weekend. Carrington joined the Rising Stars event as an injury replacement. Carrington replaced fellow sophomore Alex Sarr of the Wizards on Team T-Mac. Sarr was unable to participate due to a strained right hamstring.

The biggest concern of the players was injuries. Jaylon Tyson of the Cleveland Cavaliers said the perception of injuries in the league was not good.

“I think the biggest problem right now is the perception that guys don’t want to play,” Tyson said. “Guys work their tails off every day to be able to get on the field, but unfortunately, our bodies aren’t robots, so we can’t just go out there and play. We have to be healthy to be out there to play.”

It is also worth noting that NBA commissioner Adam Silver said “every possible remedy” is on the table to stop the slump.
The NBA commissioner also addressed the expected expansion discussion next month and said moving the team was not being considered.
