When Toumani Camara catches fire from 3-point range!
From the first minutes of this meeting against the Sixers, Toumani Camara takes advantage of a bad defensive pull from Philadelphia to serve it up for a 3-pointer Danny Avdia. Belgian thus begins what will become the biggest night of his career.
A few minutes later, it did Scott Henderson who finds it and defends the wing from Kelly Oubre Jr. After the feint, he stands up and makes another prize basket. Two minutes before halftime, Tumani Kamara fired another long shot to make it 17 points as he returned to the locker room.
“When you first come home.” (3-point shot)you feel like you’re seeing the basket bigger than usual so keep shooting,” simply sums up Toumani Camara. “In basketball, it’s all about confidence. You have to believe in yourself, and I worked hard enough not to give up.”
After the break Tumani Kamara did not take his foot off the gas. Served by Danny Avdija, he scored his sixth shot from distance of the evening. In doing so, the native of Brussels took advantage of the interception Jrue Holiday to return the favor to the Israeli who can complete the counterattack.
The link between the two internationals is re-established and it is Toumani Camara who takes the opportunity to make it 3 points.
Broken career record!
Assisted by Jrue Holiday, he hit his eighth long shot of the night and tied his career high of 25 before this game.
“When we run the ball and stick together on defense, it can be anybody’s night.” underlines the Belgian. “It’s really fun to play on this team when everyone communicates and trusts each other.”
To top off his near-perfect night, Scoot Henderson sent him to the alley before making two free throws to reach the 30-point mark.
In Portland’s big win over the Sixers (135-118), Tumani Kamara shot 10/13, including 8/10 from behind the arc. A 3-point success that contrasts with the Belgian’s recent complicated outings on the field. In the previous game against Memphis, he made just one of his five attempts from behind the arc.
We know that he is a good shooter and that he had a bad period. notes his coach Tiago Splitter. “He felt good tonight. He didn’t think too much. We don’t like when he takes too many shots before the shot. He made some after shots tonight. It was a good night for him on both ends of the floor.”
