With Aaron Holiday stunning, the Rockets are resisting the Cavaliers’ comeback

Aaron Holiday Rockets Cavaliers

Rockets flew by Cleveland to challenge the Riders who are still amputated Darius Garland. Ime Udoka’s players start the game with a 7-0 run, but Cleveland immediately responds with two consecutive game-winning shots De’Andre Hunter (25 points on 6/11 shooting) to bring the two teams back to a tie (7-7). The two teams then traded baskets for several minutes, but the Rockets built another 14-1 deficit that ended with a dunk.Amen Thompson (27-15).

At the end of the first half, Kevin Durant (20 points) et Alperen Sengun (28 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists) gives Houston a twenty-point advantage, but De’Andre Hunter tries to calm the fire with his third winning basket of the night (57-40).

Houston bends, but doesn’t break

Cleveland then had a good run in the second half of the third, bringing the turnovers back to ten points after a successful free throw. Lonzo Ballthe author of the 3-point shot a few minutes earlier (72-62). The former leader of the Bulls continues with a “stepback” against Alperen Sengun, but Kevin Durant answers him in the middle distance. Before the start of the fourth quarter, Dean Wade intercepts the ball and commits a foul to bring the Cavaliers back to within four points (74-70).

To begin this final act, Donovan Mitchell (21 points 8/17 shooting and 3/9 from distance) finally wakes up and shoots from distance, but misses the next two attempts and cannot give his team the advantage again. However, the Cavaliers guard is carrying the Ohio franchise in these final minutes as he scores 19 of Cleveland’s final 34 points.

More Aaron Holliday (18 points 5/7 shooting and 3/5 from distance) also appears and gives the winning shot and 2+1 returns eleven points to Houston (103-92). The final boost was enough to allow the Texans to win 114-104 and record their fifth straight win before they challenge Denver this Friday.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

The Rockets have won five of five. The Texans took control of this game from the start to take a twenty point lead during the second quarter. However, the Rockets weren’t loaded with skill in this matchup as they shot just 45%, but dominated rebounding with 51 shots to Cleveland’s 39. Enough to get a lot of second chances and increase the lead. If Cleveland tried to make a comeback in the second period, the Ohio franchise was never able to get back in front and let Houston post its fifth straight win.

The awakening came from Lonzo Ball. If the Rockets walked away with the win, nothing was easy especially because of a lackluster third quarter. The men from Ime Udoka scored just 17 points, their lowest total in a quarter this season, allowing the Cavaliers to finish this third act with a 23-5 run during which Lonzo Ball appeared with two 3-point shots to bring his team back four lengths.

Donovan Mitchell vs. Aaron Holiday to end the match. Donovan Mitchell had just two points before the start of the fourth quarter. For his part, Aaron Holiday was also discreet as he scored only four points in the first three quarters of this game. However, the two players go blow for blow during this final act to try and claim victory. If Donovan Mitchell scored 19 points, Aaron Holiday had the last word. With his 3-point shot and his 2+1, he sealed the fate of the Cavaliers and in the last 12 minutes of the game, he scored 14 points on 4/5 shooting and 3/4 from distance.
