Zach LaVine is no longer viewed as a tradeable asset amid the buyout buzz
Like Sacramento The Kings are losing Zach LaVine to a season-ending injurysome also considered him a player on the move between now and the end of the offseason. The Kings most likely won’t come up with a buyout with LaVine, who has a torn tendon in his right pinky.
LaVine could help mentor the young Kings in the middle the last year of his contractaccording to ClutchPoints by Brett Siegel for Clutch Scoops.
“Honestly, unless the Kings are willing to take on contracts they don’t want, which they’ve signaled won’t be the case, they want to have clean books going forward,” Siegel said. “I don’t see any option but for them to try to buy him out, maybe in the offseason, or just waive him and pay him $49 million.”
“If you’re the Kings, why would you do that? If you’re going to pay him $49 million anyway, you can have him as a high-profile star on your roster to try to mentor some of these young guys.”
The final season of LaVine’s five-year, $215.1 million contract for next is a player option, worth $48.9 million.
