Why Bam Adebayo is still “not happy” with the new rushing attack
MIAMI – U Miami Heat’s early win over the New York Knicksthe team once again showed their new attacking style to impressive results. While the players have have fun with the Heat’s new offensecertain stars, such as Bam Adebayohave not yet been fulfilled.
Despite the Knicks’ focus on slowing down Miami, which came in as the NBA’s fastest pace team at 112.3 possessions per 48 minutes, increasing its man-to-man defensive pressure and clogging lanes, the team overcame adversity. It was a slow start, but the Heat picked up their momentum by creating a fast-paced offense and capitalizing in transition with 31 fast break points, leading to a win over New York.
During training camp and the preseason, there was talk of the team’s new offensive philosophy, with players citing the tough regimen they went through to keep up the pace. With the results showing through three games, Adebayo would tell ClutchPoints that he is not satisfied yet and that his maintenance throughout the season will be key.
“We are not satisfied, we still want to maintain this pace throughout the season,” Adebayo said. “It’s not just the first five to 10 games; we want to do this all season, because when you build it as a habit and then you get into the next phase of the season, that’s when it’s really important. That’s when people tend to slow down.”
“You know, for us, we want to keep that momentum going, so when we get into the playoffs, it’s like everybody’s trying to play half-court offense and we’re losing the ball,” Adebayo continued. “And like I said, you feel alive because everyone feels included.”
He asked Bam Adebayo about how happy he is with the pace, but also that the sample size is small:
“We are not satisfied, but we want to keep this pace throughout the season.”

Heat’s Bam Adebayo in win over Knicks ‘fun’

With Amazing win over the Memphis Grizzlies last Friday, the win on Sunday, and even the first loss to the Orlando Magic, the team has a clear focus on what their identity is offensively. That was much needed as the team was at the bottom of the league in offensive rating and pace, as combined with the “resilience” shown against the Knicks, Adebayo would call it a “fun win in Miami.”
“I like that we kept fighting“Man, it’s like a fun Miami win,” Adebayo told ClutchPoints after scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the win. “It’s one or two points and you open it up, so it gets about 15, and then they break it and push it to eight, and then it’s the last four minutes like a nail. And we’ve seen in the past how they can go at us.”
“But having that resilience, it comes back to, obviously, keep moving forward,” Adebayo continued. I don’t think we ran the play today, and that’s the kind of win you enjoy because, like I said, you don’t run the play? And you’re still there getting 115.”

Other Heat players are enjoying the fact that the work has paid off so far
It also helps to have the right staff, such as The Heat’s rookie in Norman Powell is transitioning seamlessly with his new team, the rest of the team buys into the system. The one who benefited from it is Jaime Jaquez Jr., after a sophomore slump, had another impressive game off the bench, scoring 17 points with five rebounds and five assists.
“It’s very satisfying,” said Jacques. “I think we’re all happy. I think we all deserve this. We’ve been putting in a lot of work as a team every day, grinding, grinding in this new offense and defense that we’re putting in, and it’s great to see these results pay off.”

As for Wiggins, even though he only scored nine points, his presence was felt on the defensive side of the ball and he even had a key 3-pointer that helped ice the game when the Knicks threatened to come back with 1:20 left in the contest. He would talk about the effort involved during a rigorous training camp to achieve a fast pace.
“For sure, we work so hard in training camp, it’s been a very tough training camp,” Wiggins told ClutchPoints. “It’s prepared us for, you know, these games. You know, we feel like we’re in better shape than anybody. Keep pushing the wall, play fast.”
