Frustration is already mounting among the Wolves
I Austin Reeves did not score on the buzzer, the Wolves would win the game, thanks to Julius Randle’s basket seconds earlier. That would be a holdover as Minnesota mostly concentrated its efforts at the end, to come back and take the lead. For the rest it was very average.
“We know we’re a better team than that. I’m not going to sleep at night, that’s for sure. It’s frustrating, but we’ll find solutions.”, Julius Randle reacted after the loss.
Since the beginning of the season, we have seen the Wolves from last season again. If we’re talking about the playoffs in 2025, that would be a compliment since they made it to the conference finals. But we’re talking about the last regular season here, and that’s a big disadvantage, because last year was so irregular.
I no longer live in the past as a conference finalist
Against Denver as against Los Angeles, we noticed the same problems as in 2024/25: one defends, the other not at all.
“You can’t wait until the last six minutes to be physical. We have to play like that if we want to win.”, Estimated by Mike Conley. “The coach talked about that all morning and during the match”says Julius Randle about the effort requirement. “It’s up to us, the players, to do them. We have to give ourselves and do what’s asked of us, and we’re not doing it, for some reason I don’t know.”
Wolves’ record is not great to start the new season, with two wins and three losses. And if we go into details, the first success against Portland was stolen at the end, with 41 points from Anthony Edwards, who, injured, will be absent for a few more days. And the second one was against Indiana, which is still undefeated this season…
“We’re not Western Conference finalists anymore. We’re starting 0-0 like everybody else. If we have to point the finger at anybody, it’s the group as a whole.”notes the playmaker. “I believe in this group. I know we’re going to do it. We can’t point fingers at each other, we have to stay united.”adds Julius Randle.
