Jordan Walsh gets a new nickname after his heroics in the win over the Magic

We’re getting NBA minutes was the battle for Boston Celtics wing Jordan Walshbut each earned one on Sunday night during a 111-107 road win over the Orlando Magic.
The third-year Celtic finished with a record 26 minutes and got the biggest opportunity of his young career. With the Magic trailing and the C’s clinging to a two-point lead, the Celtics’ point guard Payton Pritchard found Walsh alone in the corner with 13 seconds left.
Walsh buried an open 3-pointer to give the Celtics a 110-105 lead, essentially iceing the back-and-forth game for Boston. With the 21-year-old averaging less than 10 minutes per outing during his time in the Association, Sunday’s dagger was arguably his most significant achievement as a Green Teamer.
Boston’s bench dropped a whopping 50 points on Sunday, six of which came from Walsh. Former second round pick of the Celtics he also recorded six rebounds, four assists, two steals and zero turnovers in the tight win.
Celtics big man Xavier Tillman Sr. was happy to see his teammate shine — so much so that he crashed a postgame interview and gave him a new nickname on NBC Sports in Boston.
“He’s the king of the lockdown,” Tillman said with a smile. “He can guard anybody. Big, small, wings, it doesn’t matter. Call Jordan, he’s your guy.”

In November, Walsh averaged just over 20 minutes, easily the most of his career thus far. With impressive play on both ends of the floor, he appears to be a youngster earning the trust of head coach Joe Mazzula while filling the void he left behind Celtics star Jayson Tatum is rehabbing.
While Tatum may not be back in the lineup this season, he can still be seen on the sidelines rooting for Walsh. Moments like these are not in the statistics, but they mean a lot to Walsh.
“I feel great,” Walsh said. “(Derrick White) comes in to soften me up, JT watches me and rubs me. All those things boost the confidence and the energy I bring. It makes me want to fight for those guys even more.”
Given Walsh’s recent hot streak, he should get another chance to compete for Boston on Tuesday when the C’s take on the rival Philadelphia 76ers on the road. Boston and the Phillies have already met twice this season, with each team winning in the other’s building. The Celtics will look to continue that trend and get back to .500 for the first time since Halloween.
